Karunalayam Rural Welfare Society started in 1994 and registered under the Societies Act in 2003. The society is registered as a non-government, non-political, non-profitable, and non-religious social service organization. It promotes women's self-help groups, rural health awareness programs, vocational training programs, and also provides education, and career guidelines for youth. For the past 18 years, the goal has been to empower the weaker sections of society, such as women, children, disabled, and elderly people in the Ariyankuppam Block. The activities that have been carried out by our organization are for the welfare of the women in Nettapakkam and the surrounding villages.

OUR MISSION
Sustainable development of the communities to achieve all the social, human, physical, natural, and financial capital through a self-help and self-development process.
To focus on the emotional well being of women and children, counselling centers have been set up for each village with a proper counselor, and experts has been referred for serious issues.
Skills trainings for youth and women are conducted on a regular basis to improve and develop their skills socially, economically and spiritually. Trainings are provided in various fields with experts, along with the certificate.
Many awareness programs have been conducted for the people around them to
educate and also to create awareness about health and other issues.
It has also shown a great impact on people's change in mindset, along with improved
way of living. Programs related to environment, health, education has been organized for the people.
Many vocational courses and other trainings have been provided to the village people, which helps them to upgrade their skills and personalities. With the focus on improving education, career guidance classes have been provided to the schoolchildren.
Republic Day Celebration
Karunalayam Rural Welfare Society is dedicated to empower rural communities. Our recent Republic Day celebrations on January 26th, 2024, highlights our commitment to foster patriotism and community spirit.
Disability Sanagamam
Karunalayam Rural Welfare Society hosted "Disability Sanagamam" on November 9, 2023. This program aimed to empower and bring together individuals with disabilities, foster a sense of community, and potentially promote inclusion and awareness.
Work Training for Women SHG
Karunalayam Rural Welfare Society empowers women through self-help groups (SHGs). Their August 23rd, 2023 training program equipped women with the skills and knowledge necessary to participate in and lead SHGs, fostering economic independence and community support.
Computer Certificate Distribution
Karunalayam Rural Welfare Society empowers rural students by equipping them with valuable computer skills. Their Computer Certificate Distribution program, held on July 19th, 2023, celebrated a graduating student receiving their certificate. This initiative highlights Karunalayam's dedication to bridging the digital divide and fostering a tech-savvy generation in rural communities.
Jewellery Making
Empowering rural women! Karunalayam Rural Welfare Society hosted a jewellery-making workshop on May 25th, 2023. The program captured in the photo shows the women collaboratively preparing ornaments, which was aimed at equipping them with income-generating skills and fostering a sense of community.
Distribution of laptops to students
We distributed 25 tabs and laptops to poor students in Puducherry.
International Women’s Day Celebration
March 8 is celebrated as International Women’s Day. We celebrated it with SHGs, conducted a series of meetings with women and other members of our NGO.
Covid-19 Awareness Program
On 19th Oct 2020 Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Field Outreach Bureau Puducherry & Karunalayam Rural Welfare Society, Puducherry jointly organized a program about COVID-19 appropriate behavior pledge & auto publicity inauguration. The program started at 10 AM. In this program, we explained about the symptoms of COVID-19 and how to protect ourselves from covid-19. Self-hygiene like washing hands, sanitizing, social distancing, and wearing masks.
Covid- 19 kit Distributions
During the covid-19 many kits were distributed to the village people with the necessary items needed for them.
Important day Celebrations
All the important days like independence day, children's day, labour day, Gandhi jayanthi, etc are remembered and celebrated by organizing special programs in the village.
Awareness Campaigns
To educate people about concerns pertaining to the environment, health, education, and other related areas for themselves and those around them, awareness classes and activities have been held.
Tree Plantations
To preserve and conserve the natural resources, many awareness classes and tree plantation drives have been done in and around the villages.
Formation of Self Help Groups
Women
SHG's have been formed to help them attain financial stability and were also celebrated
as part of financial and sustainable development. Various activities and important
days were also celebrated as part of this group to improve their skills.
It is the small change that makes the biggest impact.
